As of the closing time 11 days ago, the number of stocks in the Nikkei Average constituents that rose was 65, fell 159, and remained unchanged for 1 stock.

The Nikkei Average fell. It closed the morning session at 39,347.79 yen, down 152.58 yen (trading volume approximately 1,070.95 million shares). The Dow Jones Industrial Average in the US market last weekend closed at 43,988.99, up 259.65 points, and the NASDAQ closed at 19,286.78, up 17.32 points. Buying intensified in anticipation of President-elect Trump's policy priorities for growth, leading to an increase after the opening. Additionally, with the Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index exceeding expectations, the market rose on growth prospects. The drop in long-term interest rates also provided support, pushing the market to record highs. Keeping an eye on the strong performance of the US stock market, the Nikkei Average started with a slight selling pressure following the movements in Chicago futures. Expected semiconductor-related weaknesses following the decline in the SOX index, however, the Tokyo market showed relatively stable movements, with moments of narrowing losses in the Nikkei Average. However, amidst the peak earnings announcements, trading remained cautious, with profit-taking and sell-offs dominating near the psychological level of 0.04 million yen, keeping the market in negative territory.

The top contributors to the decline were Toto Supply <8035>, followed by First Retail <9983>, which collectively pushed the Nikkei Average down by approximately 50 yen. The top decliners in the Nikkei Average constituents were Sosio Next <6526>, down 5.67%, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries <7012>, down 5.01%.

On the other hand, the top contributors to the increase were Sony Group <6758>, followed by Terumo <4543>, collectively pushing the Nikkei Average up by approximately 50 yen. The top gainers in the Nikkei Average constituents were Furukawa Electric <5801>, up 14.80%, and DeNA <2432>, up 14.02%.
