The US stock market rose. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 43,988.99, up 259.65 points, while the Nasdaq ended trading at 19,286.78, up 17.32 points. The buying intensified further on the expectation of Trump's growth-focused policy as the next president, leading to an increase after the opening. Furthermore, with the Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index exceeding expectations, the market continued to rise on growth expectations. The decline in long-term interest rates also supported the market, which hit a new all-time high and closed.

On the 8th in the New York foreign exchange market, the dollar-yen exchange rate rose from 152.34 yen to 152.86 yen and closed at 152.60 yen. The dollar buying became dominant due to the unexpectedly positive November Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, which improved the economic outlook. The Euro-dollar rate dropped from 1.0773 dollars to 1.0687 dollars, closing at 1.0719 dollars. The Euro selling prevailed due to political uncertainty in Germany.

On the 8th, NY crude oil futures for December fell (NYMEX crude oil December futures closing price: 70.38, down 1.98).
