Japanese stocks of American depositary receipts (ADRs), when compared to the Tokyo Stock Exchange (equivalent to 1 dollar = 152.89 yen), such as Terumo <4543>, Softbank Group <9984>, Mitsubishi Corporation <8058>, Advantest <6857>, Japan Post <6178>, Tokyo Electron <8035>, HOYA <7741>, etc., rose with a general buying preference. The settlement price of the Chicago Nikkei 225 futures was 39,690 yen, up 450 yen from the Osaka daytime comparison.

The US stock market was mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 43,729.34, down 0.59 dollars, while the Nasdaq closed at 19,269.46, up 285.99 points. Continued buying sentiment due to Mr. Trump's victory in the presidential election, as well as buying speculation on a rate cut by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), led to an increase after the opening. The FOMC of the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) decided to cut rates as expected, leading to a drop in long-term interest rates and subsequent steady gains in the Nasdaq, hitting record highs for several consecutive days. While the overall market was pushed up, the Dow was unable to maintain a positive territory and closed mixed.

In the New York foreign exchange market on the 7th, the dollar-yen rate fell from 153.77 yen to 152.70 yen, closing at 152.91 yen. With the decline in long-term interest rates incorporating the rate cut at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) of the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), the selling of the dollar became dominant. The FRB decided on an expected rate cut of 0.25%, and Chair Powell also showed a stance of continuing the rate cut, causing further decline in interest rates and adding momentum to the dollar selling. The euro-dollar rate rose to 1.0825 dollars before falling to 1.0767 dollars, closing at 1.0802 dollars.

NY crude oil futures for December showed strength (NYMEX crude oil December futures closing price: 72.36, up 0.67).
