Neorest Award (Grand Prize)/“Toilet Senryu 20th Commemorative” Award/ Nakahata Takashi Award/ Excellence Award/ Middle School Student/High School Student Award/ Kids Award, selected from a total of 39,888 entries in the 20th “Toilet Senryu” call will be published in the Honsenryu Collection. This year's senryu collection was designed by illustrator Ryosuke Aoike ※3, who drew the original picture of the animation “Toilet Senryu 20th Anniversary 1 (1) Roll Theater,” which was released in June to commemorate the 20th round of recruitment, and drew a scene where the characters in the animation were celebrating the 20th toilet senryu. It is published on the TOTO website, and videos can also be viewed from the two-dimensional bar code written on the outer paper of the senryu collection.

Honsenryu can be purchased at bookstores nationwide, the bookstore “Bookshop TOTO” directly managed by TOTO Publishing, the TOTO Museum, and TOTO's website.

Toilet senryu began in 2005 to commemorate the breakthrough of the 20 million washlet mark. Once a year, we solicit stories that express episodes related to toilets in senryu format, such as toilet failure stories and funny stories at home, work, and school, and publish winning phrases as a toilet paper type senryu collection. The winner is Mr. Takashi Nakahata, a copywriter who is also known as a member of the Senryu section serialized in the Mainichi Newspapers. This time, which is now in its 20th year, we are accepting applications from 2024/6/17 to 8/25, and a total of 40 verses were announced on 10/16: Neorest Award (Grand Prize)/“Toilet Senryu 20th Commemorative” Award/ Nakahata Takashi Award/Excellence Award/Middle School/High School Student Award/Kids Award/Honorable Mention from 39,888 entries.

“Toilet Senryu 20th Anniversary 1 (1) Roll Theater” is an animation depicting family life and bonds based on episodes composed in the past 19 toilet senryu episodes. It was created by taking time-lap-by-frame animated illustrations drawn on toilet paper. It is published on the TOTO website.
