Report on winning the 21st Japan e-Learning Awards “Generative AI Special Category Award”

SHIFT recently received the 21st Japan e-Learning Awards “Generative AI Special Category Award” hosted by the Japan Online Education Industry Association and the Sangyo Keizai Shimbun Co., Ltd., for the internal career improvement system “Top Gun” (hereinafter “Top Gun”) for SHIFT Group employees.
Furthermore, this is the first time that an award has been received for focusing on efforts related to generative AI.

■What is the Japan e-Learning Awards
It is an award that selects particularly excellent content, services, and solutions using e-learning in companies, schools, local governments, etc. There are no other examples of education-themed awards where the four ministerial awards from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications are awarded, and they are attracting a lot of attention every year.

■What is Top Gun
The top gun that received the award this time is SHIFT's unique education program developed based on in-house know-how such as decomposing/analyzing work and formalizing the work skills of employees. It began providing it in 2020 as an internal system for SHIFT Group employees, and we are supporting employees' autonomous career development through the use of e-learning and the operation of online salons, etc. where employees can freely learn from each other.
At Top Gun, employees voluntarily study e-learning or online, and then face the certification exam. Since passing the certification is recognized as one of the indicators that prove an employee's skills, it is guaranteed that they will be placed in a project by higher ranking occupations and roles, and the system is linked to salary increases by producing results.

By constructing an education system where “skill improvement,” “sales power,” and “evaluation systems” are closely linked, employees can feel firsthand not only salary but also improvements in their own market value, and SHiFT can continuously create high-value-added human resources, making it a win-win system for both parties.
Furthermore, the number of candidates taking the Top Gun exam has been growing steadily year by year, and the number of examinees per month exceeded 1,000 in 2024/6. ※

■About the use of generative AI in Top Gun
At Top Gun, the Competency Development Office, which gathers specialists in business analysis and certification development, is in charge of everything from system design to development and operation, and since provision began in 2020, we have continued to develop and improve teaching materials and certification questions based on our unique know-how, and have grown the system. From 2023, generative AI will be introduced in the development and scoring of teaching materials and examinations. In addition to automatically generating questions (approximately 0.2 billion pattern), we have developed a system where results are notified to examinees at the same time as exam completion by automating operation and scoring using AI and Power Platform, improving the accuracy of questions and realizing a learning cycle with a sense of speed. Furthermore, generative AI is also being used to support learning for examinees, and the training speed for people with no IT experience is approximately doubled, contributing to significant system improvements in learning programs.
In this way, by utilizing generative AI for e-learning, Top Gun can make a significant contribution to employee skill improvement and career development, and we believe that it has led to an increase in service value has been evaluated.
