Canalys reports that global tablet computer shipments in the third quarter increased by 11% year-on-year, reaching 37.4 million units. Driven by the recovery of consumer and commercial demand, the tablet computer market achieved growth for the third consecutive quarter. The end of the back-to-school season demand, pre-holiday channel inventory preparation, and increased corporate IT spending all contributed to the development of the tablet computer industry.
During the quarter, Apple (AAPL.US) continued to maintain its leading position in the tablet computer market with a market share of 36% and shipments of 13.6 million units, a year-on-year increase of 0.3%. Apple enhanced its market competitiveness by introducing the latest iPad mini, bringing Apple Intelligence features to the entire iPad product line to improve user experience.
Samsung remained in second place with shipments of 6.9 million units, a 12% year-on-year increase.
China's technology giants Lenovo (00992.HK), Xiaomi (01810.HK), and Huawei are among the top five. Lenovo grew by 14% year-on-year, while Xiaomi became the fastest-growing vendor with a 58% increase. Huawei's shipments reached 2.9 million units, achieving a 29% growth.
