At the closing of the market on the 6th, the number of rising stocks in the Nikkei average composition was 167 stocks, 52 stocks fell, and 6 stocks remained the same.
The U.S. market rose on the 5th. The Dow Jones rose 427.28 points to 42,221.88, and the Nasdaq rose 259.19 points to 18,439.17 at the close of trading. Expectations of uncertainty being dispelled by the passage of the presidential election led to buying, with a positive trend after the opening bell. Unexpected improvement in the October ISM Non-Manufacturing Business Conditions Index fueled buying on expectations of a soft landing, strengthening the rebound. The market remained in the high range throughout the day and closed in a positive tone.
In response to the rise in US stocks, the Tokyo market started trading with a buying preference. The Nikkei average, which started at around 38,600 yen, gradually expanded its gains in response to the rapid depreciation of the yen, breaking through the 39,000 yen level and continuing to rise strongly. Due to the smooth acquisition of electoral votes by former President Trump, including in battleground states, the market was aware of the 'Trump trade,' leading to a further increase in the Nikkei average in the afternoon session. Interest in earnings reports during trading hours continued to rise, leading to the trading volume in the main board market reaching over 5 trillion yen.
At the close, the Nikkei average was 39,480.67 yen, up 1005.77 yen (+2.61%) compared to the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's main board was 2,455.18 million shares. The trading value was 5.6352 trillion yen. By industry sector, banks, machinery, machinery products, insurance, nonferrous metals, etc., rose, while marine shipping, fisheries and agriculture, electricity and gas, warehousing and transportation-related, and land transportation declined. The main board market had a 66% increase in rising stocks compared to a 29% decrease in falling stocks.
