One of the courier companies, Federal Express Corporation, has recently released the latest research findings on this year's shopping festival in the Asia-Pacific region. The research shows that 70% of small and medium-sized enterprises expect an annual increase in sales during this year's shopping festival, with nearly 80% of businesses believing the growth will mainly come from the Asian market, especially the Southeast Asian market. This optimistic outlook reflects the overall market trend, as the Southeast Asian e-commerce market has achieved double-digit growth this year due to digital technology applications and cross-border trade development. In addition, intraregional trade in Asia continues to grow rapidly, expected to exceed $13.5 trillion by 2030.
The research shows that over half (57%) of consumers prefer to shop on e-commerce platforms, with 70% of consumers being motivated by the extensive discounts and promotional activities during the shopping festival. For consumers, 'free shipping' remains a key factor in enhancing the shopping experience and influencing purchase decisions. Furthermore, consumers hope for companies to develop more sustainable online shopping methods.
E-commerce's share in retail is continuously increasing. Research shows that 87% of small and medium-sized enterprises expand their customer base and increase sales opportunities through cooperation with third-party e-commerce platforms. Events like 'Double Eleven', 'Black Friday', 'Cyber Monday', and other large online shopping activities are crucial in attracting consumers to participate in the shopping peak season.
To better attract customers, e-commerce sellers are continuously innovating in personalized services, including live streaming, product showcases, and heavy promotion on social media platforms. The research shows that small and medium-sized enterprises believe that reliable logistics providers, price advantages, and digital transport tools are important factors in meeting international shipping demands during the shopping peak season. 48% of e-commerce sellers will seek additional support from logistics providers to address the peak period logistics needs.
This research was conducted in October this year, covering 200 small and medium-sized enterprises and 300 consumers from 12 markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The aim was to understand their expectations, reasons, and concerns about the shopping festival, uncovering key trends that shape consumer behavior during the peak shopping season.
