Maredith Hannon, head of business development digital assets at WisdomTree, will discuss her firm's latest innovations in digital finance at the upcoming Benzinga Future of Digital Assets event.
Hannon, who leads WisdomTree's digital assets division, shared insights on the rapid institutional interest in blockchain and the launch of WisdomTree Connect, a new platform designed to offer institutional investors access to tokenized assets.
Addressing Investor Needs with Tokenization
Hannon explained that the rising interest from institutions stems from blockchain's potential benefits. "This interest stems from what we are seeing across the industry: the recognition of the opportunities for new benefits, efficiency, and choice for retail investors that comes with utilizing blockchain technology," she said.
With tokenization, WisdomTree aims to cater to the crypto-native segment, which has shown consistent growth, especially in stablecoins. Through this approach, WisdomTree intends to create an investment experience that meets the needs of both retail and institutional users, providing more options than are currently available in traditional financial markets.
Launch of WisdomTree Connect
To support this goal, WisdomTree recently launched WisdomTree Connect, which Hannon described as a platform aimed at "unlocking tokenized real-world assets (RWA)." The platform initially offers WTGXX, a tokenized money market fund, allowing institutional users to subscribe or redeem assets directly on-chain. Through a stablecoin conversion service, users can interact with this regulated product using USDC, which Hannon sees as a bridge between traditional and digital finance.
"We're solving specific problems for retail and institutional investors by providing solutions that provide a better investing experience than they have today," Hannon said, underscoring WisdomTree's mission to create a user-friendly interface for blockchain-based investment opportunities.
The Future of Institutional Blockchain Integration
As WisdomTree continues to explore tokenized assets, Hannon sees platforms like WisdomTree Connect as a crucial step toward aligning institutional finance with digital assets. By launching tokenized products that adhere to regulatory standards, WisdomTree aims to give investors efficient access to blockchain while maintaining the safeguards expected in conventional finance.
As the digital asset market continues to mature, the convergence of regulatory shifts, M&A activities, and adoption trends will define the future of this dynamic field. Benzinga's Future of Digital Assets event in New York City this November will provide industry leaders and investors with a platform to explore these developments further, offering insights into the evolving regulatory environment and the latest market dynamics.
