DJ Surgeon General: E-Cigs Aren't Proven Smoking-Cessation Tool -- Market Talk

13:42 ET - The US Surgeon General says it's unclear if e-cigarettes help people quit smoking. That's a key question for the vaping industry as manufacturers prepare to submit applications this spring to the FDA seeking permission to remain on the US market. Juul Labs and other e-cigarette makers are expected to present clinical research showing the rates at which their users switch over completely from cigarettes. "It is difficult to make generalizations about efficacy for cessation based on clinical trials involving a particular e-cigarette, and there is presently inadequate evidence to conclude that e-cigarettes, in general, increase smoking cessation," the Surgeon General says.
