Shiseido company,limited sponsored adr will start accepting the service of "Nursery Study*1" in collaboration with KITCHIHAIKU Co., Ltd., Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and KODOMOLOGY Co., Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Shiseido, from Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the enterprise-led childcare facility "Kangaroo Kakegawa" located on the premises of Shiseido's Kakegawa factory. "Nursery study" is a service where children can experience living as the main character in the rich nature developed by KITCHIHAIKU. While sending their children to the nursery for 1-2 weeks, families can stay in the region using the collaborating lodging facilities. This not only supports diverse ways of working such as working vacations but also creates long-term intergenerational relationships and contributes to the local economy.
"Kangaroo Kakegawa" will provide an environment where parents and children can enjoy experiential programs in addition to baby skincare experiences during childcare and for users of "Nursery Study," such as experiencing programs at the adjacent Kakegawa factory, Shiseido Corporate Archives, and the Art House, enhancing the experience while feeling nature.
We will continue to contribute to supporting diverse ways of working for the child-rearing generation and creating a rich society.

Background and Objectives of New Service Introduction

Currently, there is a growing trend to create new value while engaging in parenting that focuses on children. With the normalization of remote work, the concept of "workation" is gaining attention as an opportunity to create new value by placing oneself in a different environment. In addition, the parenting generation in the metropolitan area has a strong desire to provide children with experiences in nature. In response to this need, Shiseido company,limited sponsored adr will accept "Kangaroo Kakegawa" as a place for preschool children during workations and will also implement experience programs at some of our facilities in Kakegawa.
In its childcare business, Shiseido company,limited sponsored adr aims to balance both parenting for everyone and the creation of new value through work, supporting the parenting generation in balancing childcare and work. Furthermore, Shiseido places importance on contributing to the factory and the local community at the Kakegawa factory, and as part of this effort, an employer-led childcare facility "Kangaroo Kakegawa" is located on the premises of the Kakegawa factory. Not only Shiseido employees, but also residents of the local community are allowed partial use of this facility.
This time, the collaboration of the three parties was realized by aligning the efforts of our childcare and local community initiatives with the value expansion in the region promoted by Kitchihike and the nursery school study that focuses on children's value creation, and promoting the selection of towns that utilize childcare and local resources in Kakegawa City.

Overview of the New Service

"Kangaroo Kakegawa" is located in a vast natural environment, where children can enjoy a carefree time feeling the four seasons in nature. Under a nurturing policy that considers each individual, an environment is created where children can pursue what they want, fostering initiative and confidence. In addition to seasonal events, experiences that stimulate the five senses are enriched by creating opportunities for outdoor play and eating lunch at nearby parks on a daily basis. Furthermore, by implementing mixed-age childcare, not placing play equipment in the playground, and creating an environment where children can enjoy playing with free thinking, they are encouraged to think for themselves, take action, and grow in curiosity and cooperativeness.
In addition, as a unique feature of shiseido company,limited sponsored adr, a nursery using shiseido's baby skincare that can be used from newborns is being implemented for moisturizing and UV care. By supporting children's healthy skin care for the present and future, it also creates opportunities to increase communication between parents and children by proposing to parents to incorporate skincare time into their daily routine.
For users of the "nursery study abroad" program, special experiences are offered at facilities related to beauty such as the adjacent Kakegawa factory, shiseido corporate museum, and art house on weekends or after leaving the nursery. At the Kakegawa factory, it is possible to participate in the "parent-child lip gloss making experience*2". At the shiseido corporate museum and art house, you can visit shiseido's heritage and outstanding modern and contemporary artworks with guidance from staff.
*2 Targeted for children aged 4-5. The experience is only available to those who are using the nursery study abroad program on the event day.
