DJ Comcast Stock Gains After Earnings Top Estimates -- MarketWatch
Shares of Comcast Corp (CMCSA) are up 1% in premarket trading Thursday after the media giant topped revenue and earnings estimates for the fourth quarter. The company reported net income of $3.16 billion, or 68 cents a share, up from $2.51 billion, or 55 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Adjusted earnings climbed to 79 cents from 72 cents, coming in ahead of the 77 cents that analysts surveyed by FactSet had been predicting. Comcast's revenue increased to $28.4 billion from $27.8 billion, and the company topped the FactSet consensus of $28.2 billion. The company generated $14.8 billion in cable-communications revenue for the quarter, up 2.6% on a year-over-year basis. NBC Universal revenue fell 2.6% to $9.1 billion, while Sky revenue grew 1.4% in constant currency to $5.0 billion. The stock has increased 3.8% over the past three months as the S&P 500 has risen 11%.
