Chinese customers who order the Model 3 now can expect to get deliveries in 2-4 weeks, shorter than the previous 4-6 weeks.
Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 electric sedan has seen a shorter wait time in China, after getting slightly longer early last month.
For Chinese customers who are currently ordering any of the three variants of the Model 3, the expected delivery wait time is 2-4 weeks, information on Tesla's Chinese website shows. This is shortened from the previous 4-6 weeks.
The last time the electric sedan's wait time changed in China was on September 10, when it went from 3-5 weeks to 4-6 weeks.
The Model Y's current delivery wait time remains at 1-3 weeks. The crossover's last wait time change in China was on July 4, when it went from 1-6 weeks to 1-3 weeks, according to CnEVPost's monitoring.
The Model 3 and Model Y, which are locally produced by Tesla at its Shanghai plant, are both offered in three variants in China.
The Model 3 is available in an entry-level rear-wheel-drive version, a long-range all-wheel-drive version, and an all-wheel-drive performance option, and is currently priced at a starting price of RMB 231,900 ($32,540), RMB 271,900, and RMB 335,900, respectively.
The same versions of the Model Y start at RMB 249,900, RMB 290,900, and RMB 354,900, respectively.
Prices for the Model 3 and Model Y in China have remained unchanged since the end of April.
Tesla's other models are not being built in China, where the Model S sedan and Model X SUV (sport utility vehicle) both currently have expected delivery dates in the first quarter of 2025.
The US electric vehicle (EV) maker on October 27 extended a five-year, 0 percent interest loan in China until November 30, just as the incentive was set to expire at the end of this month.
Tesla initially launched the 5-year, 0 percent interest loan incentive in China on April 3, the first time it offered the program in the country. Over the past few months, it has essentially announced a one-month extension of the incentive at the end of each month.
Tesla China sold 88,321 vehicles in September, including 16,121 for export, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
It sold 72,200 vehicles in China in September, exceeding August's 63,456 for a year-to-date high.
The Model 3 sold 23,998 retail units in China in September, the highest since September 2022, contributing 33.24 percent of Tesla's sales in China last month.
Model Y retail sales in China in September were 48,202 units, the highest for a single month so far this year, contributing 66.76 percent of Tesla's September retail sales in China.
During the week of October 14-20, Tesla's vehicles had 13,200 insurance registrations in China, up 55.29 percent from 8,500 the week before, according to a report by CnEVPost last week.
Last week's insurance registration numbers are expected to be known later today.
