Citi Developer Portal Is Leading in Market, With Multi-Channel Integration Capabilities

C ·  12:00

New York, NY – Today, Citi announced its Developer Portal now includes multi-channel integration capabilities supporting batch-mode (File), real-time application programming interface (API) and pre-built connectivity solutions, making the portal a market leader in the industry. The expansion of the portal addresses a significant need for corporate clients, who are looking for simplified API connectivity and support for real-time processing and information. This helps reduce the effort of corporate developer teams, who typically need to spend on average 2-3 months to integrate their systems with their banks.

The integrated self-service platform enables Citi's corporate, financial institution and commercial clients to easily find the right integration solutions to digitally connect with Citi's portfolio of products and services, such as instant payments, virtual cards and real-time balances to name a few. The Developer Portal works with client systems to help them process their vendor payments for exchange of data (like their account balances) and many other transactional purposes. CitiConnect is the backbone for how Citi Services clients implement these services by helping them connect directly to Citi systems. This can be done via File, API or direct connections into systems client use on their end, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Treasury Management Systems (TMS).

"We're hyper-focused on meeting our clients right where they are by offering them a high-quality digital experience to match their day-to-day global demands. Through our Citi Developer Portal, we're anticipating our clients' need for simple integration and speed to market by personalizing our offering to help to provide a seamless end-to-end process. In turn, this makes it easier for their developers to connect with us." – Naveed Anwar, Global Head of Platform and Data Services, Citi Services

The Developer Portal was created by Citi Digital in partnership with the Services, Banking and Markets teams at Citi, highlighting another example of Citi's integrated capabilities coming together to deliver a more holistic experience for its clients.

"At Citi, we put our clients at the center of everything we do. With this expansion of our Developer Portal, clients across the firm can easily find integration solutions, allowing them to access the breadth of Citi's products through a self-service platform. This next-level connectivity with clients, allows us to be in lockstep as we work together to accomplish their business goals." – Allison Szmulewicz, CIO of Banking, Client and International, Citi

This launch comes as the Citi Services business reaches 10 billion API calls this month since inception on its CitiConnect API platform. This milestone not only demonstrates Citi's industry-leading API capabilities but also the rapid adoption of APIs in the market.

Some of the key differentiators of the Citi Developer Portal include:

  • A central hub to launch and manage APIs, files and pre-built integrations with leading vendors.
  • A client-focused marketplace across all solutions and integration capabilities that clarifies what the solution is solving for, how it works, and why the client may choose to use it. The marketplace is similar to a banking app store for corporates, and it makes Citi solutions more tangible for clients and should increase understanding of how the API products have been used by other clients.
  • The highest number of pre-built integrations to top third-party applications Citi clients use, including TMS, Accounting Applications, Microsoft Excel, etc. ERP capabilities will be added to the platform in 2025.

These differentiators make Citi the largest marketplace of direct connectivity with top third-party applications, which is patented as first in the market.

"The launch of the Citi Developer Portal is an exciting enhancement for us. It offers Worldpay a unique experience, which facilitates effortless navigation for both Treasury and Technology users. The revamped interface is a game-changer as it provides easy access to Citi's product data and specifications which allows Treasury to make informed decisions quickly." – Daniel Killilea, Treasury Director, Global Cash Management & Product Enablement at Worldpay

The Citi Developer Portal provides a full service offering across Citi's API library, with various host-to-host solutions that will give clients a broader view of Citi solutions and capabilities. The portal includes an API library, processing volume, and direct connections with top third-party applications – a differentiator in the marketplace.
