Today (24th), the Housing Department and Buildings Department announced that the final "Simplified Public Housing" design and construction contract (Works Engineering Contract Number SS N516) has been approved for Yau Lee Construction Company. It covers six projects in Heng Kwong Street, Ma On Shan, and the conversion of five vacant or soon-to-be-vacant school premises, involving approximately 1,500 units, with construction expected to start as early as November this year.

In the "Simplified Public Housing" project, a total of approximately 0.0285 million units in seven projects started construction as early as December last year, with the Yau Long Yau Oi Road project expected to be completed and occupied in the first quarter of next year.

A spokesperson for the Housing Department stated that today's approval of the final design and construction contract marks a new phase for the "Simplified Public Housing" towards completion and occupancy, effectively improving the living environment and quality of life for citizens living in inadequate housing. The Housing Department and Buildings Department will continue to work at full speed to achieve the government's goal of providing approximately 0.03 million "Simplified Public Housing" units by the 2027-28 fiscal year.
