Sina Financial News Beijing time 22 news, Belgian media L'Avenir reported that on January 22nd, Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Vermes and BabaGroup Chairman and CEO Zhang Yong had a "very interesting" meeting during the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos.

What is the most interesting thing for Belgians? Vermes's answer is: "the arrival of BABA has not only created job opportunities directly and indirectly, but also promoted two-way development, allowing the commodities of small and medium-sized enterprises to be exported to the Chinese market, which was originally difficult to enter."

L'Avenir concluded: "for Ms. Vermes, BABA represents future opportunities."

China, which is opening wider to the outside world, is attractive to the world. The digital economy helps to further stimulate the import potential of the Chinese market and create new momentum for world trade. In December 2018, the Belgian federal government and BABA Group reached an agreement to promote inclusive global trade based on eWTP (the world e-commerce platform). BABA's Cainiao Network will build a world-class intelligent logistics hub in Liege, Belgium, and jointly explore trade model innovation with Belgium.

"it's not just about building a logistics centre, it's about building a partnership to promote local economic development in Liege and other parts of Belgium," says Mr Vermes.

On October 9, 2019, the Cainiao eWTP, a central European train full of 82 TEUs, departed from Yiwu, Zhejiang, to Liege, Belgium, and then sent parcels quickly to European countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic. At the same time, high-quality goods from small and medium-sized enterprises in Belgium and European countries can also be delivered to Chinese consumers more quickly.

Just a month ago, BABA worked with Liege Customs to get through the model of helping Chinese companies import bonded imports from Europe. A group of Global Express merchants can already prepare goods in Liege's bonded warehouse and deliver the goods to local customers as soon as they receive the order. Belgian customs has realized digital declaration, making the process of merchants' participation in cross-border trade more compliant and transparent.
