Caifinance News October 24th (Editor Li Lin / Intern Editor Chen Yujia) China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) and Japan's Mitsubishi Power formed a consortium and successfully won the EPC contract worth 0.59 billion Moroccan Dirhams (approximately 0.595 billion US dollars) for the power plant.
In recent years, ch energy eng has been actively expanding into the markets of the Middle East and North Africa. For example, in August of this year, the company participated in a consortium that secured the EPC contract for the 2GW Haden photovoltaic project for the Saudi PIF Phase IV, with a contract value of 0.972 billion US dollars.
This time, the Sino-Japanese consortium will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the 900 megawatt (MW) Al Wahda power plant.
The consortium will be responsible for constructing a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in the Lmjaara city of the Ouarzazate province in Morocco. This power plant will be the largest in Morocco and the third CCGT project in Morocco following the 400MW Tahaddart power plant and the 450MW Ain Beni Mathar power plant.
This winning bid signifies another important breakthrough in the international power sector construction cooperation between ch energy eng and Mitsubishi Power, showcasing the strong capabilities and rich experience of the consortium in large power plant construction and operation.
With the advancement of the Al Wahda power plant project, Morocco's power supply capacity will be further enhanced, providing more stable and reliable energy security for the local economic and social development.
