Reportedly, Gates donated this money to an anonymous donation organization under Harris's main external fundraising institution "Future Forward". This organization does not need to disclose donors and can raise unlimited funds from individuals and companies.

Some wealthy supporters of Harris are concerned that Trump may seek retaliation if he wins, so they choose to donate anonymously.

The report also mentioned that Gates had discussed donation matters with former New York City Mayor and major donor to "Future Forward", Mike Bloomberg. Bloomberg and Gates have been close friends for many years, establishing a deep friendship in charity work, public health, and climate change issues.

It is worth noting that Gates has always portrayed himself as "enthusiastic about charity and indifferent to politics" for decades, so this political donation was unexpected. It is reported that Gates's children influenced his donation decision.

The report also mentioned that Gates expressed concerns about Trump returning to the White House, although he emphasized that he could work with any presidential candidate.

Gates has never publicly supported any presidential candidate, including Harris, but when Harris became the Democratic presidential candidate, Gates gave her positive feedback, saying it's great to have younger people running for office.

Prior to Gates' donation being exposed, an analysis by Forbes found that 81 billionaires supported Harris, including Bloomberg, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank. Only 50 billionaires support Trump, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and hedge fund manager Bill Ackman.
