Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has developed and will begin selling the PCD tool "Sumidaiya DA1090" for processing hard alloys, hard and brittle materials*1, and aluminum composite materials starting from November 2024.
Sumidaiya is a PCD sintered body that combines the diamond with the highest hardness and the bonding material sintered under high pressure and temperature. It has expanded its application range as a tool material capable of processing challenging materials such as super hard alloys and hard brittle materials, in addition to aluminum alloy processing.
The processing of super hard alloys used in molds and the machining of aluminum alloys and cast iron used in automotive parts involve high loads on the tool edges, requiring tool materials with higher wear resistance and resistance to damage.
In response to these needs, the Company has developed and will start selling the PCD sintered body "Sumidaiya DA1090," which achieves excellent wear resistance and resistance to damage, while delivering stable performance in high-load processing.
