Concerns arose from reports in the media indicating the ruling party in Japan is facing challenges in the House of Representatives election, leading to a broad sell-off across various stocks. The Nikkei average was seen dropping to 38,200.82 during the session.
Among the stocks included in the Nikkei average, negative reports from some securities firms influenced declines in TOTO <5332>, as well as defense-related stocks such as Nippon Steel <5631>, Kawasaki Heavy Industries <7012>, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries <7011>, IHI <7013>. Other semiconductor stocks like Tokyo Electron <8035>, Renesas Electronics <6723>, Socionext <6526> also fell. Declines were noticeable in Ryohin Keikaku <7453>, M3 <2413>, and Mercari <4385>.
Meanwhile, the yen weakened and the dollar strengthened to around 150.80 yen to 1 dollar, leading to purchases in automobile stocks such as Mitsubishi Motors <7211>, Toyota Motor <7203>, SUBARU <7270>, and Isuzu Motors <7202>. Furthermore, marine transportation stocks like Mitsui O.S.K. Lines <9104>, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha <9107>, and Nippon Yusen <9101> showed strength.
In terms of global sectors, machinery, construction, securities and commodity futures trading, real estate, and banks declined, while marine shipping was the only sector that rose.

It was followed by Tokyo Electron <8035>, Advantest <6857>, SoftBank Group <9984>, daikin industries, ltd. unsponsored adr <6367>, Recruit Holdings <6098>, and Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063>.
On the other hand, the top contributor to the price increase was Toyota Motor <7203>, which pushed the Nikkei average up by about 2 yen with one stock. Epson <6724> ranked second, followed by Kikkoman <2801>, TDK <6762>, Aeon <8267>, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines <9104>, Kawasaki Kisen <9107>, and others.
