Aircraft manufacturer Boeing (BA) rose, expecting the end of the strike, after reports of a new labor agreement with the labor union including a 35% wage increase. Consumer health company Kenview (KVUE) rose on expectations of improved performance as activist investor Starboard increased its shareholding in the company. Mobile device Apple (AAPL) rose as analysts pointed out the recovery in demand for the iPhone 16.
Struggling low-cost airline Spirit (SAVE) surged as concerns of imminent bankruptcy receded after reaching an agreement with banks regarding some debt deferrals. Freight transport company United Parcel Service (UPS) declined as analysts lowered their investment outlook due to intense competition.
Regional bank Zion's Bancorporation (ZION) announced third-quarter earnings after the close of trading, surpassing profit expectations per share and rising in extended hours trading.
