AXIOM SPACE collaborates with PRADA to launch a brand-new lunar space suit.

During the Milan International Astronautical Congress, Axiom Space, a leading provider of manned spaceflight services, and Prada, a developer of manned space infrastructure, unveiled for the first time the AxEMU extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) spacesuit designed for the NASA Artemis III mission. AxEMU has improved the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (xEMU) space suit from NASA, enhancing flexibility, functionality, and safety, while also equipped with specialized tools for exploring the lunar south pole. The spacesuit is suitable for astronauts of different genders and various body types. It can withstand the extreme temperatures of the lunar south pole and maintain operation in the extremely cold environment of the permanent shadow region for at least two hours. Astronauts can wear the AxEMU spacesuit to perform extravehicular tasks in space for at least eight hours.

AxEMU is equipped with multiple redundant systems and onboard diagnostic systems to ensure astronaut safety.
