Have Charles Schwab Insiders Been Selling Stock?

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 20 20:00

Some The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE:SCHW) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Director, Carolyn Schwab-Pomerantz, recently sold a substantial US$1.5m worth of stock at a price of US$72.14 per share. However, that sale only accounted for 0.9% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

Charles Schwab Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Founder & Co-Chairman, Charles Schwab, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$10m worth of shares at a price of US$76.40 each. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$71.36. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid US$2.3m for 35.00k shares. But they sold 813.86k shares for US$59m. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Charles Schwab shares, than buying.
