According to the latest market forecast for the US presidential election, the possibility of a 'Republican sweep' (i.e. Trump elected as president and Republicans taking both houses) has increased significantly from 20% at the beginning of the month to 33%.
What happened the last time the Republicans swept the election? According to statistics from Bank of America, the Republican sweep of the 2016 election was good for stocks, oil, and the US dollar, but very bad for bonds and gold.
In the past week's market performance, bank stocks, small cap stocks, and the US dollar have already 'taken the lead', while gold and oil have shown divergence.
