Pubang Landscape Architecture (002663.SZ) recently announced that the research project 'Research and Industrialization of Plant Diversity in the Guangdong Coastal Area' developed by the company as the first completion unit in cooperation with Sun Yat-sen University and other units has won the second prize of the 2023 Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award.
Over more than 20 years, the project systematically investigated the plant resources of 14 coastal cities and islands in Guangdong Province, revealing the appearance, composition, structure, and succession laws of typical northern tropical monsoon forests and southern subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forests in the coastal and mountainous areas. The project also developed techniques for constructing near-natural wind-sheltered plant communities along the coast, as well as reef shallow waters and mangrove communities on the near-shore riverbanks, increasing the diversity of coastal plant communities. In terms of industrial development, a sound cooperation system of industry, education, research, and application has been formed. The project has been successively promoted and applied in 646 engineering projects in coastal cities in the east and west of Guangdong Province, such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Shantou, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, Maoming, and Shanwei. The application area exceeds 6,000 hectares, generating good economic, social, and ecological benefits. The project's results have been identified by peer experts as generally at an internationally advanced level, providing theoretical and technical support for regional biodiversity conservation and restoration.
