■ Efforts towards the SDGs
Daytona <7228> is actively working on the SDGs, conducting research on alternative energies that can contribute to the environment by replacing or reducing the use of fossil fuels, as well as developing products to put these into practical use in accordance with the goals of the SDGs. Specifically, the following efforts are being made:
(1) Efforts towards the Environment from In-House Photovoltaic Power Generation Facilities
Working on initiatives related to '7. Energy for all and clean energy,' '11. Sustainable cities,' and '13. Taking action on climate change' from their in-house photovoltaic power generation facilities. Specifically, they participated in the 'RE Action Renewable 100 Declaration' in February 2021 as part of their renewable energy business, utilizing the electricity generated by their in-house photovoltaic power generation facilities to cover 100% of the electricity used by the company and group companies with renewable energy. They are also aiming to continue operating their in-house solar power generation facilities at the company's headquarters beyond 2032, aiming for 'headquarters off-grid power.' Additionally, they are studying how to supply electricity to demand sources with environmentally associated value from their in-house photovoltaic power generation facilities and how to utilize their facilities as a power source for regional recovery after large-scale power outages. In November 2021, they collaborated with Asene to contribute to a decarbonized society through climate change tech, and in June 2022, they introduced Asene's 100% renewable energy electricity to the company's headquarters and Dirt Freak headquarters, achieving decarbonization of the entire electricity usage for the company group by assigning non-fossil certification with tracking to the company's solar power stations.
(2) Efforts on Developing Hydrogen Generation Equipment as Alternative Fuel for Decarbonized Energy and Fossil Fuel
Engaged in the development of new energy sources in response to '4. Quality education for everyone,' '7. Energy for all and clean energy,' '9. Building the foundation for industry and technological innovation,' '11. Sustainable cities,' and '12. Respecting production and consumption.' Specifically, they are conducting research in collaboration with universities on hydrogen generation equipment using sodium borohydride (SBH) for on-demand hydrogen generation and emergency engine generators utilizing on-demand hydrogen generation. They are also progressing research on recycling by-products from hydrogen generation equipment to regenerate as SBH. In addition, they patented an engine generator powered by hydrogen gas generation in April 2021 (patent title: 'Hydrogen gas generation equipment, internal combustion engine applied thereto, and power generator driven by this internal combustion engine').
(3) Regional Contribution: Initiatives through Tourism Partner Agreement with Tourism Associations
Engaged in initiatives through a tourism partner agreement with the Tsuruga region Tourism Association since August 2019. In August 2023, they concluded a tourism partner agreement with the Atsumi Peninsula Tourism View inc. (Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture). This agreement aims to promote mutual support for promotional activities, revitalize the region, provide information to motorbike riders, and raise awareness of the motorbike culture advocated by the company. Specifically, Tahara City plans and disseminates enjoyable 'things' for motorbike riders to attract them. In addition, to deepen understanding among residents about the 'motorbike rider-friendly city' targeted by the Atsumi Peninsula Tourism View inc., they are considering plans such as Dirt Freak's kids' electric bike experience to engage the local community. These efforts are aimed at promoting sustainable tourism.
(4) Initiative to reuse used motorcycle aftermarket parts and genuine components
In response to the goals: "9. Create a foundation for industry and technological innovation", "12. Take responsibility for what we make; Take responsibility for what we use", "13. Take specific actions to address climate change", and "17. Achieve goals through partnerships", we are working on initiatives to procure used motorcycle aftermarket parts and genuine components that are typically discarded from partner companies and users, process them properly under the company's expertise, and utilize them for customers. Starting from 2024, the company plans to consolidate product packaging and transition to environmentally friendly materials.
