Prince Holdings Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Hiroyuki Isono, Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and its group company Asahiyo Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Ryohei Oka, Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) jointly announce the start of material recycling by reusing used paper cups in paper cup sleeves* and cardboard in collaboration with Super Hotel Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Kensaku Yamamoto, Head Office: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture).
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in realizing a circular economy, and the importance of sustainable material recycling that utilizes used products as raw materials has been increasing.
Paper cups are generally coated with a plastic laminate to make them waterproof, and because they cannot be disposed of as waste paper due to being considered taboo items for recycling, they have been incinerated. There was a need for effective utilization through reuse technology.
This time, used paper cups used at Super Hotel's breakfast are sorted and collected, and the fiber fraction (pulp) of the paper cups is recycled at Prince Group's related factories to regenerate used paper cups as "paper cup sleeves* and cardboard," starting initiatives used at Super Hotel.
