Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken; President: Makoto Uchida) announced the mid-size crossover, the new Nissan “Murano”, on the 17th. The car will go on sale in the US and Canada in early 2025.
Outstanding design
The new “Murano” is based on the design theme “energetic elegance,” and in addition to 21-inch wheels and LED taillights that spread to the left and right, it has achieved a sleek and modern exterior with exclusive 2-tone colors, etc. The interior is luxurious, with meticulous materials, two 12.3-inch displays, and front seats with 64 color ambient lighting and massage functions.
High sense of security
All models of the new “Murano” are equipped with an omnidirectional driver assistance system (safety shield 360) as standard equipment, providing all drivers with a sense of security when driving. Furthermore, “ProPilot” (local name: ProPilot Assist) and “ProPilot 1.1” (local name: ProPilot Assist 1.1) support smooth driving on expressways. Also, Murano was the first to be equipped with two types of camera technology: an “invisible hood view,” which can see the front through the hood part, and an “intelligent around view monitor” that displays the surroundings of the car as if looking down directly from above when parked, etc.
Seamless and intuitive connectivity
Equipped with Google built-in, it is possible to directly display various applications, starting with the latest Google Maps, on the 12.3-inch digital display in the car. The system works with the Bose Personal Plus 10 speaker audio system to provide immersive sound throughout the cabin.
Stable powertrain and reliable control
The 2.0-liter VC turbo engine with excellent response generates a maximum output of 241 horsepower (hp) and a maximum torque of 260 lb-ft, and in addition to improving torque by 20 lb-ft compared to the previous model, it was combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission (AT) equipped with a paddle shift that realizes more attractive driving.
The lineup includes front-wheel drive or 4WD (local name: Intelligent All-Wheel Drive) drive systems, and both excellent handling and ride comfort are achieved with specially tuned frequency-sensitive dampers and electric power steering.
Similar to the previous model, the new “Murano” will be produced at the Smyrna Plant in Tennessee, USA, and the price will be announced when it goes on sale.
Following the new “Kicks,” which went on sale in August, and the new “Armada” announced in September, the new “Murano” is a new model of the Nissan brand, which is the 3 models to be introduced during the management plan “The Arc.”
