At CEATEC 2024, an exhibition featuring an advanced environmentally friendly smart home concept was showcased, and a joint press conference was held by both companies.

Yamada Homes Corporation (Headquarters: Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, President and CEO: Koichi Shimamura, hereinafter referred to as Yamada Homes) and LIXIL Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Kyoya Seto, hereinafter referred to as LIXIL) announced at the Yamada Homes booth at the comprehensive digital innovation exhibition 'CEATEC 2024' (organized by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), period: Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to Friday, October 18, 2024) their collaboration aimed at reducing environmental impact by reducing LCCO₂ (Life Cycle CO₂) emissions through promoting energy saving, introducing renewable energy in housing, and taking measures against embodied carbon in material manufacturing, construction, and waste disposal, for the achievement of carbon neutrality in the housing and construction field by 2050.

In 2015, the Paris Agreement was adopted at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21), aiming to keep the rise in the world's average temperature well below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels and to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C. However, the risks of global warming are increasing year by year, and the frequency of significant high temperatures occurring around the world is on a long-term upward trend. In July 2023, following an announcement by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) that the average temperature had reached a new record high, the United Nations sounded the alarm using the term 'global heating'.

Regarding the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050 in the housing and construction field, while the reduction of operational carbon through improving housing performance is accelerating, rethinking the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of housing reveals that the 'Construction sector' accounts for approximately 37% of the world's CO₂ emissions, with embodied carbon accounting for about half of the CO₂ emissions from detached houses*. Efforts to reduce embodied carbon are significantly lagging behind, posing an urgent challenge in the housing and construction sector.

Therefore, Yamada Homes resonated with LIXIL's concept of 'GREEN WINDOW' for reducing LCCO₂ (Life Cycle CO₂) emissions, and at CEATEC 2024 in the Yamada Homes booth, a collaboration between the 'YAMADA SMART HOUSE' certified under Yamada Holdings' unique environmental standard 'YAMADA GREEN' and LIXIL has been realized. Using the 'LIXIL Energy-efficient Housing Simulation', the 'YAMADA SMART HOUSE' that reduces LCCO₂ emissions will be showcased, with the concept of advancing environmentally conscious smart homes.
The exhibition introduces various LIXIL building materials, such as the high-performance window 'TW' recommended as the 'GREEN WINDOW' by LIXIL, the front door 'GESTA 2' equipped with the smart lock system 'FamiLock' and the 'electric shutter'. Additionally, household appliances and building materials like air conditioners, electric curtains, and electric roller screens are on display, demonstrating the operation of a full set of exhibits including non-LIXIL products using IoT Home Link 'Life Assist 2'.
In addition, we will exhibit a joint explanation panel on the sustainability efforts of Yamada Homes and LIXIL, as well as exhibitions on LIXIL's energy-saving housing simulation for calculating LCCO₂ emissions, recycling of aluminum and resin, aiming to achieve the well-being of each resident and propose a safe, secure, and environmentally friendly sustainable living environment.
In the future, through collaboration between both companies, we will continue efforts to reduce LCCO₂ emissions in the housing and construction fields, aiming for the realization of a decarbonized society and the resolution of social issues.

'YAMADA Smart House'
Based on homes with high airtightness, high thermal insulation, and seismic resistance, utilizing electricity generated by solar panels during the day as a priority in the household, with excess electricity charging large-capacity batteries installed in EVs (electric vehicles). During high electricity consumption at night, the stored electricity in EVs (electric vehicles) is discharged to the household, achieving self-sufficiency in electricity. In addition, the built-in smart IoT system visualizes power generation and electricity usage through HEMS (Home Energy Management System), optimally controlling residential facilities and appliances to balance convenience and reduced environmental impact, contributing significantly to enhancing the value of living and building a sustainable society.

LIXIL
● What is "GREEN WINDOW"
TOSTEM, LIXIL's window and door brand, defined and declared in November 2023, is a general term for windows that realize a rich and comfortable living environment while reducing environmental impact and are suitable for the region. We quantitatively evaluate the environmental impact over the entire lifecycle in terms of energy efficiency (insulation performance and solar heat gain coefficient of windows) and resource circulation, and propose windows that are optimal for the region to achieve a rich and comfortable living.

- "Life Assist2"
bigjpg"Bringing smart homes closer to you" is the concept of connecting various building materials and home appliances throughout the house. With voice control via smartphones and smart speakers, you can control residential equipment and home appliances, as well as perform batch operations tailored to your daily life. You can actually experience a convenient and secure lifestyle ahead.
・ High-performance window "TW"
bigjpgThis is a high-performance window recommended as LIXIL's GREEN WINDOW. On the indoor side, it uses a unique design that creates small air chambers with resin that is resistant to heat transfer, suppressing the inflow and outflow of heat. On the outside, it uses strong and durable metal, maximizing the area of high-insulation glass with a slim frame design. By increasing the glass area, it improves daylighting, views, and winter solar heat gain. Furthermore, by using recycled aluminum materials, it also contributes to reducing environmental impact. It aims to enhance both top-class insulation performance and the inherent charm of windows while reducing environmental impact.
・ Residential window shutter electric suction type
bigjpgWith a structure that allows the flaps to open, this electric shutter enables ventilation and lighting while closed. It can be easily opened and closed via remote control or smartphone operation, and when linked with "Life Assist 2", it can also be opened and closed via voice control of a smart speaker.
・ Electric unit for high-level horizontal sliding windows
bigjpgA high-level window that can be opened and closed electrically. Even high windows in unreachable positions can be ventilated easily by using a remote control, smartphone, and voice commands from a smart speaker connected to 'Life Assist 2' for opening and closing operations.
- Entrance door 'Giesta 2'
bigjpgA residence entrance door equipped with the smart lock system 'FamiLock'. By using the optional device 'FamiLock Link' of 'Life Assist 2', you can wirelessly link 'FamiLock' and 'Life Assist 2', enabling remote confirmation of the locking status and remotely locking even if you forget to lock the door.
