The Statistics and Census Service of Macao recently announced that the Macao tourism price index for the third quarter of this year was 147.22, an increase of 4.29% year-on-year. Among the major price indices, the jewelry sales price increase drove the miscellaneous goods price index up by 13.68% year-on-year, the clothing and footwear price index up by 6.14% year-on-year, the lodging price index up by 3.52% year-on-year, and the dining price index up by 3.52% year-on-year. On the other hand, the entertainment and cultural activities price index decreased by 13.33% year-on-year.
Compared to the previous quarter, the Macao tourism price index for the third quarter of this year increased by 4.43% quarterly. During the summer vacation period, hotel room rents rebounded, driving the lodging price index up by 24.38% quarterly. On the other hand, summer clothing discounts promoted sales, resulting in a quarterly decrease of 6.56% in the clothing and footwear price index. (js/u)
