CnEVPost ·  Oct 15 20:13

Nio's executive flagship sedan, the ET9, has entered a regulatory filing to pave the way for deliveries to begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) has made a filing for its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, to complete a major regulatory process for its formal launch.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its latest catalog of models that will soon be allowed to be sold for public comment today, and the Nio ET9 is included.

The public can submit their feedback between October 16 and 22. Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process by which a model can be allowed to be sold in China.

The Nio ET9 has only one page in the catalog, with product model number NAL7003BSEVD1, and is manufactured at Nio's F2 plant in NeoPark, Hefei, Anhui province.

The 4-seater sedan measures 5,325 mm in length, 2,017 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.

It weighs 2,700 kilograms and supports a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour.

The ET9 is powered by dual electric motors, supplied by Nio's electric motor division XPT in Xinqiao, Hefei. Its front motor has a peak power of 180 kW and the rear motor has a peak power of 340 kW.

The model supports battery swap and the battery supplier in the filing catalog is CATL.

Nio unveiled the ET9 and started accepting pre-orders on Nio Day in December 2023 in an attempt to enter the luxury executive sedan market dominated by foreign brands including Mercedes-Maybach.

The model has a pre-sale price of RMB 800,000 ($112,420) and deliveries is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.

One of the biggest selling points of the ET9 is the SkyRide intelligent chassis system, which Nio said is the world's first integrated hydraulic fully active suspension that enables transient adjustment of stiffness, damping and height.

So far this year, Nio has released several videos showcasing the capabilities of the ET9's chassis.

The ET9 is packed with a number of the latest technologies and will be the first to carry Nio's own 5 nm process-based Shenji autonomous driving chip. All models based on the NT 2.0 platform under Nio's main brand currently come standard with four Nvidia Orin chips.

The ET9 will be built on a 925 V ultra-high voltage platform and will be powered by Nio's own 46105 large cylindrical battery cells for better energy performance and faster charging.

The sedan will carry a battery pack with a capacity of 120 kWh and a single cell energy density of 292 Wh/kg, Nio said when announcing the model.

It supports 5C fast charging and can get 255 kilometers of range on a five-minute charge at Nio's latest 640 kWh charging post.
