Huang Renxun pointed out that it usually takes several years for most people to complete this task, while Musk and xAI were able to accomplish the supercomputer project in Memphis in such a short time, which is a superhuman achievement.

Huang Renxun further emphasized that in his opinion, only one person in the world can achieve this feat, and that is Musk. Musk's understanding of engineering, construction, large systems, and resource allocation is unparalleled and truly incredible.

In June, Musk mentioned in an interview that xAI's supercomputer Colossus went from hardware installation to training in just 19 days, the current fastest speed in the industry.

Huang Renxun explained that typically, it takes three years of planning to build a supercomputer, then deliver the equipment, and another year to get all the equipment up and running. The whole process involves constructing huge factories to house GPUs, equipping the factory with liquid cooling and power supplies. Time is also left for the integration of the Nvidia and xAI engineering teams.

Huang Renxun said, considering that Colossus is equipped with 100,000 GPUs, it is undoubtedly the fastest supercomputer cluster on Earth. Musk's supercomputer is said to provide power for tesla and assist in its research on autonomous driving and assisted driving technologies.

Huang Renxun believes that Musk has integrated 100,000 nvidia GPUs, which is an unprecedented feat and may be difficult to replicate by other companies, at least for a long time within the industry.

However, even Musk, who is called 'superman' by Huang Renxun, has faced embarrassing situations. In September, Larry Ellison, co-founder and director of Oracle, revealed that he and Musk once begged nvidia to sell them GPUs at a dinner with Huang Renxun.

Ellison said they told Huang Renxun to take their money, and the more they take, the better. Everything went smoothly afterwards, and both he and Musk received nvidia chips.
