The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and eight other departments recently jointly issued the "Implementation Rules for Subsidies for Replacing Old Electric Bicycles with New Ones in shanghai", and announced that the subsidy program for replacing old electric bicycles with new ones will officially begin this Wednesday (the 16th), providing a one-time subsidy of 500 RMB for purchasing a bicycle.

According to the rules, from October 16, 2024 to June 30, 2025, Shanghai will provide a one-time 500 RMB subsidy for individual users who trade in and scrap their own electric bicycles registered in Shanghai, and purchase a new electric bicycle with a national mandatory product certification certificate.

The rules also encourage individual users who enjoy the subsidy to purchase new electric bicycles produced by companies that meet the requirements of the "Electric Bicycle Industry Standards". In addition, for electric bicycles with lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that are exchanged, the batteries should also meet the standard requirements of the "Technical Specifications for Safety of Lithium-ion Rechargeable Batteries for Electric Bicycles".
