Ho Iat Seng was elected as the Chief Executive-elect of Macau. Out of the 400 members of the electoral committee, 398 members attended and participated in the vote. In the end, Ho Iat Seng received 394 votes and was elected as the sixth Chief Executive-elect of Macau.
After being elected, Ho Iat Seng stated that upholding national sovereignty, security, and development interests is the highest principle. He aims to accelerate the moderate and diversified development of the economy, integrate better into and serve the overall development of the country.
Last month, Ho Iat Seng mentioned that in the early years, the aggressive expansion of the gambling and tourism industries in Macau had impacted the choices of employment and career development for young people. He believes that sole reliance on a single industry is not conducive to the long-term development of Macau, and economic diversification must move forward.
