Xencor Insiders Sold US$891k Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 11 20:11

Xencor, Inc. (NASDAQ:XNCR) shareholders may have reason to be concerned, as several insiders sold their shares over the past year. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Xencor Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Co-Founder, Bassil Dahiyat, sold US$294k worth of shares at a price of US$23.43 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$20.43. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Xencor shares, than buying. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!
