Amazon will add Apple's Apple TV+ streaming service to its channel store in the US.
$Amazon (AMZN.US)$ Will put $Apple (AAPL.US)$ Apple TV+ streaming service was added to its US channel store to offer popular shows such as “Ted Lasso” (Ted Lasso) and “Slow Horses” (Slow Horses) for the first time in its video supermarket.
Mike Hopkins, senior vice president of Amazon Prime Video, said on Wednesday that Apple will begin selling TV+ subscription services through Prime later this month.
Hopkins said, “We provide our channel partners with hundreds of millions of users around the world. This kind of interaction with Prime members visiting Prime Video from around the world is a great platform for other partners to reach out to them.”
Amazon sells over 100 streaming services through its channel store, enabling customers to watch Max, Paramount+, and Hallmark shows on Prime Video. These services all rely on Amazon to grow their audience.
Apple TV+ is one of the only major streaming services not available in the store, and$Netflix (NFLX.US)$und$Disney (DIS.US)$the main asset. These two companies are among the few streaming services that have more viewers than Prime Video.
Over the past few years, Apple has invested billions of dollars in original shows, winning industry awards and critical acclaim. But its streaming service hasn't reached as many users as Netflix and Amazon.
The agreement expands on the existing relationship between the two companies. In 2017, Amazon began offering the Prime Video app on Apple TV set-top boxes, and Prime Video was integrated into the Apple TV app, covering the iPhone manufacturer's lineup of devices. The two companies are also retail partners, and Apple offers an official store through the Amazon website.
Hopkins also said he expects more integrations and Amazon's streaming service will be profitable “soon.”
