According to Bloomberg, HBO's latest documentary 'Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery' points out that bitcoin core developer Peter Todd is suggested to be the anonymous founder of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Documentary filmmaker Cullen Hoback questions Todd in the film and presents the evidence he has collected:

  • In 2010, Todd (from a new account) replied to Satoshi Nakamoto on bitcointalk; HBO claims he accidentally used his own account to complete Satoshi Nakamoto's post; both accounts remained inactive for days;

  • Todd later deployed the 'replace-by-fee' concept discussed in the post;

  • A document provider claimed that Todd used the pen name 'John Dillon' to promote RBF;

  • Both individuals used British/Canadian spellings;

  • Furthermore, Satoshi Nakamoto's posting schedule aligns with that of a student, with more posts on weekends;

  • Todd has discussed 'sacrificing' bitcoin before; the documentary suggests this refers to destroying Satoshi Nakamoto's bitcoin.

At the end of the film, Todd also responded, 'Well, yes, I am Satoshi Nakamoto.'

However, this statement does not confirm that Todd is the true creator of bitcoin. Todd often uses the phrase "I am Satoshi Nakamoto" to support the privacy of bitcoin's founder. Todd himself has publicly denied being the founder of bitcoin on social media and questioned the conclusions of the documentary.

The CEO of CryptoQuant, Ki Young Ju, stated on X:

"Patoshi Wallet" is a bitcoin wallet related to early mining activities of Satoshi Nakamoto, based on a unique mining pattern. This pattern indicates that Satoshi Nakamoto mined approximately 1 million BTC, none of which have been spent.

The mysterious creator of bitcoin - "Satoshi Nakamoto", reportedly owns about 1.1 million bitcoins, equivalent to around $68 billion, making it one of the most uncertain assets. Since the birth of bitcoin, the discussion about who "Satoshi Nakamoto" is has never ceased.

The anonymity of "Satoshi Nakamoto" in itself is a mysterious allure, perhaps symbolizing the decentralized spirit of bitcoin. Who "Satoshi Nakamoto" is may not be important, but solving real-world issues through the creation of bitcoin is more meaningful.
