Foxconn executives stated on Tuesday that the company is constructing the world's largest NVIDIA (NVDA.US) GB200 chip manufacturing plant in Mexico.
According to the Economic Daily News app, Foxconn executives stated on Tuesday that the company is constructing the world's largest NVIDIA (NVDA.US) GB200 chip manufacturing plant in Mexico. It is reported that GB200 is a super chip based on NVIDIA's new generation artificial intelligence (AI) chip architecture, Blackwell.
Foxconn is the world's largest electronic product contract manufacturer and also the largest assembler of Apple (AAPL.US) iPhones. Foxconn has been benefiting from the AI boom as it assembles servers used for AI work processing.
Benjamin Ting, Senior Vice President of Foxconn's Cloud Enterprise Solutions Business Group, stated: "We are building the world's largest GB200 production facility."
NVIDIA stated in August that after adjusting the design, it has started shipping Blackwell chip samples to partners and customers, expecting these chips to bring in billions of dollars in revenue in the fourth quarter.
Ting stated that the cooperation between Foxconn and NVIDIA is very important, with the market showing "tremendous demand" for the Blackwell platform.
Chairman Liu Youngwei of Foxconn subsequently mentioned that the factory is being constructed in Mexico, with a "very, very large" production capacity. He did not disclose further details.
Foxconn has established a large production base in Mexico, with investments exceeding $0.5 billion in Chihuahua state to date.
Liu Yangwei also stated that Foxconn's supply chain is ready for the ai revolution, adding that its manufacturing capabilities include advanced liquid cooling and heat dissipation technologies required for the complete GB200 server infrastructure.
He mentioned that the company's outlook for the current quarter is strong but did not disclose details. Due to strong demand for ai servers, Foxconn's third-quarter revenue reached its highest level ever.
Foxconn also hopes to leverage its technical expertise to provide contract manufacturing services for electric autos and produce cars using the Foxconn brand.
Despite intensifying global competition in the electric auto market amid slowing demand, Liu Yangwei stated that Foxconn is committed to the industry.
He said, "This is the right direction, and we will continue to strive in this direction." He added that with the development of electric autos, the auto manufacturers no longer face "engine barriers."
He also mentioned that auto manufacturers "no longer need to produce the entire car themselves."
