Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Sight Sciences

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 6 21:29

We note that the Sight Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:SGHT) Co-Founder, Paul Badawi, recently sold US$76k worth of stock for US$5.99 per share. However we note that the sale only shrunk their holding by 0.2%.

Sight Sciences Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Chairman Staffan Encrantz for US$1.8m worth of shares, at about US$3.46 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$5.81. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Staffan Encrantz bought 985.12k shares over the last 12 months at an average price of US$3.04. Insider Ownership

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Sight Sciences insiders own about US$61m worth of shares. That equates to 21% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Do The Sight Sciences Insider Transactions Indicate?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. In contrast, they appear keener if you look at the last twelve months. It's good to see insiders are shareholders.
