This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In Onewo

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 6 08:27

Some Onewo Inc. (HKG:2602) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the GM & Executive Chairman, Baoquan Zhu, recently sold a substantial HK$365m worth of stock at a price of HK$18.24 per share. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 22%, which is notable but not too bad.

Onewo Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent sale by Baoquan Zhu is the biggest insider sale of Onewo shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of HK$25.95. We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was just 22% of Baoquan Zhu's stake.

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Onewo insiders own 7.8% of the company, worth about HK$2.4b. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Onewo Tell Us?

An insider sold Onewo shares recently, but they didn't buy any. Despite some insider buying, the longer term picture doesn't make us feel much more positive. But it is good to see that Onewo is growing earnings. The company boasts high insider ownership, but we're a little hesitant, given the history of share sales. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Be aware that Onewo is showing 2 warning signs in our investment analysis, and 1 of those can't be ignored...
