Trade Alert: Chairman & CEO Of Sprocomm Intelligence Chengjun Li Has Sold Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Oct 2 06:08

Some Sprocomm Intelligence Limited (HKG:1401) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Chairman & CEO, Chengjun Li, recently sold a substantial HK$198m worth of stock at a price of HK$1.20 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 45% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Sprocomm Intelligence

Notably, that recent sale by Chengjun Li is the biggest insider sale of Sprocomm Intelligence shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of HK$4.56, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 45% of Chengjun Li's holding.

Insider Ownership Of Sprocomm Intelligence

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Sprocomm Intelligence insiders own 51% of the company, worth about HK$2.3b. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
