The Zhitong Finance App learned that on January 13, it was reported that Douyin and Tencent Music (TME.US) had reached a music transfer agreement at the end of 2019. Some media sought evidence from both sides on this matter. Douyin said it would not comment, and Tencent Music did not respond.
People familiar with the matter said that Tencent Music and Douyin have officially begun an official collaboration, and Tencent Music's copyrighted songs will also be transferred to Douyin. Currently, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music, and QQ Music, which are owned by Tencent (00700), have all joined Douyin. The latter joined Douyin relatively late. The date they posted their first status on Douyin was November 4, 2019.
Zhitong learned that in recent years, Douyin has successively obtained music usage rights from many record companies, including the world's top three record companies, Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Taihe Music, and Modern Sky. In addition, Douyin is also training its own musicians and launched the “Seeing the Music Project” in 2018. The overseas edition of Douyin launched the “Spotlight” music project, which aims to discover and support independent musicians.
Also, in the second half of 2019, Tencent Music not only reached a related cooperation with Kuaishou. Not long ago, QQ Music, a subsidiary of Tencent Music, also reached a partnership with Station B (BILI.US) to promote songs and promote musicians with platform resources from both sides.
