The government announced that the amended Telecommunications Ordinance (Chapter 106), Article 14, will come into effect tomorrow (October 1). Authorized mobile network operators can enter designated buildings with approved building plans on or after April 1 next year to install and maintain mobile communication facilities without having to pay fees to the land owners.
The Telecommunications Ordinance stipulates that designated buildings include newly built and rebuilt commercial, industrial, residential, and hotel buildings. Newly built government buildings and public housing will also follow relevant arrangements to provide space for mobile network operators to install mobile communication facilities.
