Billionaire investor Mark Cuban warned Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday not to ally with former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, as Trump may ultimately be unable to repay his political debts.

"Elon, one day you will need Donald Trump's help," Cuban wrote to Musk in a post. "You will think you have earned the right to ask for and receive. You have been a loyal soldier to him."

"At the time when you need him most," Cuban continued. "You will find what many others have already found before, that he is only loyal to himself."

Cuban's warning was in response to a post Musk had earlier shared on X, in which Musk amplified various conspiracy theories, claiming that the Democratic Party encourages immigrants to enter battleground states, "This is a surefire way to win every election."

Musk explained that if 1 in 20 illegal immigrants becomes a US citizen each year, and Democrats are accelerating this process at the fastest rate, there will be approximately 2 million new legal voters within 4 years. The voting margin in swing states is usually less than 0.02 million votes. This means that if the Democratic Party succeeds, there will no longer be swing states!

"Few Americans realize that if Trump is not reelected, this will be the last election. He is not only not a threat to democracy but is the only way to save democracy!" Musk wrote.

Elon Musk has repeatedly proposed that if Trump wins a second term, he hopes to lead a so-called Government Efficiency Commission to combat federal spending.

Earlier this month, Trump supported Musk's idea of ​​setting up a Government Efficiency Commission and said Musk might be a "good candidate" to lead the commission. But at the same time, he said Musk is the CEO of multiple companies, very busy, and may not have time to do this job, but he can provide "consultation".

Cuban's warning to Musk - a billionaire's warning to another billionaire - implies that when a wealthy benefactor supports a candidate, they actually expect to benefit from or be favored in some way in terms of policies once that candidate takes office.

Cuban is in an opposing position to Musk in this election cycle, supporting Harris, Trump's Democratic opponent. In recent weeks, despite some skepticism about Harris's plan to raise business taxes, he still praised Harris as "more favorable to businesses".

Cuban is eyeing the position of Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He recently stated that if Harris is elected President of the United States, he is willing to take over as Chairman of the SEC, replacing the current chairman, Gary Gensler.
