Folinks News learned from sources at the scene that by around 5:30 pm, the fire at the factory had been preliminarily brought under control. Of note is that the Z base factory located at the Contemporary Amperex Technology headquarters represents the company's 'top' manufacturing level, making it the world's first 'lighthouse factory' in the lithium battery industry.
Today at noon, a fire broke out at the Contemporary Amperex Technology Z base in Fujian. Folinks News learned from sources that at around 2:00 pm, there was significant smoke in the fire area of the Z base factory. Subsequently, the source informed Folinks News that flames could be seen in the burning factory building, with many fire trucks and a large fire.
Following the fire incident mentioned above, staff from the Emergency Management Bureau in Ningde City, Fujian Province, told Folinks News reporters, "(Contemporary Amperex Technology's Z base is on fire) As soon as the fire broke out, firefighting efforts began, and people were evacuated early. Currently, there are no casualties, and there is a command center on site with city leaders directing the operations."
Around 5:30 pm, according to sources at the scene, the fire at the Contemporary Amperex Technology Z base battery factory had been preliminarily controlled, and nearby roads were temporarily closed. Photos provided by the source showed that fire trucks were still in operation, and the smoke in the factory area had significantly dispersed from before.

According to the public notice released by the Dongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone Fire and Rescue Brigade in Ningde City, at 11:26 am on September 29th, the 119 command center received an alarm that a fire had occurred in a standalone building (approximately 0.015 million square meters) at the Contemporary Amperex Technology factory area in the Dongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone in Ningde. Upon receiving the alarm, firefighting and emergency response forces as well as relevant departments immediately rushed to the scene to extinguish and manage the emergency, organizing the evacuation of the people. Currently, there have been no reports of casualties.

The project was completed and put into production in the second quarter of 2022, with an additional lithium-ion battery annual production capacity of approximately 16 GWh.
According to XAS News report in September, Ningde Times Z base is the world's first lighthouse factory in the lithium battery industry. Staff at Z base said: Our lighthouse factory can achieve a defect rate of less than one billionth, while labor productivity increases by 75%, and annual energy consumption decreases by 10%.
The announcement shows that as of the first half of 2024, Ningde Times has three unique 'lighthouse factories' in the global lithium battery industry, located in Ningde Base, Yibin Base, and Liyang Base.
It is known that 'lighthouse factory' is known as the 'most advanced factory in the world', recognized by the World Economic Forum, representing the highest level of intelligent manufacturing globally with comprehensive automation, precision, and optimization in the production process, guiding a new direction for the digital transformation of the global manufacturing industry.
It is worth mentioning that in June this year, the Chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology, Zeng Yuqun, mentioned the fire at a battery factory in South Korea at the Summer Davos forum. He emphasized the importance of safety from the design, manufacturing, application of batteries to the final transportation process, expressing concerns about practitioners who lack the technical capability to solve safety issues.
Regarding this fire incident, company officials told Caixin reporters that they should refer to the above fire protection notice for this fire. Chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology, Zeng Yuqun, responded to the media regarding the fire incident and its subsequent impact, stating: 'Not a big issue'.
