According to Reuters on September 29, US District Judge Reed O'Connor stated on Friday that a hearing will be held on October 11 to consider objections raised by relatives of the victims of two Boeing 737 MAX plane crashes to the agreement by the aircraft manufacturer to admit to conspiracy to commit fraud. On July 24, the aircraft manufacturer finalized an agreement, admitting to conspiring to defraud the Federal Aviation Administration after violating a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement, and paying up to 0.487 billion US dollars in compensation. Some relatives of the 346 people who died in the two Boeing 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019 believe the fine is too low and have raised other objections to the guilty plea agreement. The judge will also consider objections to the agreement from the Polish national airline LOT before deciding whether to accept the guilty plea. LOT previously argued that it should have the same rights as the victims' families in the case, and stated that it incurred losses of at least 0.25 billion US dollars after grounding 14 737 MAX planes globally in March 2019 following the two air disasters.
