At the closing bell on the 27th, the number of rising stocks in the Nikkei average constituent stocks was 153, with 71 stocks falling and 1 stock remaining unchanged.

The U.S. stock market rose on the 26th. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 42,175.11, up 260.36 points (+0.62%), the Nasdaq closed at 18,190.29, up 108.08 points (+0.60%), and the S&P 500 closed at 5745.37, up 23.11 points (+0.40%), driven by better-than-expected economic indicators, leading to buying due to improving economic outlook. After the opening, supported by China's government plan to strengthen fiscal support to achieve growth targets, expectations of demand recovery also provided support. Micron's rise in semiconductors led the Nasdaq. The market remained strong throughout the day and closed positively.

With the rise in US stocks and the depreciation of the yen against foreign currencies as catalysts, the Tokyo market started trading in a buying-dominant stance. Although the Nikkei average recovered the 39,000 yen level for the first time since September 2 and started positively, concerns arose over factors such as ex-dividend and the significant increase of over 1,000 yen from the previous day, leading to a temporary dip into negative territory compared to the previous day. However, in the afternoon, when Mr. Takamichi, who advocates for a proactive fiscal policy, came in first in the initial round of the Liberal Democratic Party leadership election, the yen depreciated to the 146 yen per dollar range. The Nikkei average expanded its gains, closing at a new high for two consecutive days.

The Nikkei average at the close was 39,829.56 yen, up 903.93 yen (+2.32%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 2.249.55 million shares. The trading value was 5.635.4 trillion yen. By industry sector, precision instruments, machinery, chemicals, real estate, and electric appliances all rose, while banking, oil and coal products, pulp and paper, mining, and iron & steel declined. The number of rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 39%, compared to 56% for declining stocks.

The top contributor to the increase was Tokyo Electron <8035>, which pushed the Nikkei average up by approximately 168 yen with one stock. Second place was Fast Retailing <9983>, followed by Advantest <6857>, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063>, Daikin <6367>, SoftBank G <9984>, Terumo <4543>, and others.

Second place was Recruit Holdings <6098>, followed by Takeda Pharmaceutical <4502>, Daiichi Sankyo <4568>, SoftBank <9434>, Nichirei <2871>, and Shionogi <4507>.
