Macau casino stocks climbed again, as of the time of this report, Sands China (01928) rose by 9.52% to 18.4 Hong Kong dollars; Galaxy Entertainment (00027) rose by 6.04% to 36.85 Hong Kong dollars; Wynn Macau (01128) rose by 5.88% to 6.12 Hong Kong dollars; MGM China (02282) rose by 5.64% to 11.98 Hong Kong dollars.

On the news front, Macau Tourism Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes recently stated in a media interview that the number of tourists in August exceeded the government's expectations, believed to be related to good weather and other factors; if the good weather continues in the future, she believes that the number of visitors during the Golden Week in October may exceed the previously predicted daily average of 0.1 million people. Regarding hotel reservations for the Golden Week, Senna Fernandes responded by stating that as of last week, the overall hotel reservation rate for the National Day holiday is about seventy percent, usually the bookings in the last week before Golden Week are the most intense. Plus, since the pandemic, guests tend to book closer to the date, and now many five-star hotels have reported being fully booked, and other star-rated hotels are expected to receive orders gradually this week.

Morgan Stanley research reports point out that the average hotel room price and occupancy rate during this year's Golden Week in October in Macau are expected to be similar to the same period last year. The bank expects daily gaming revenue to be 0.9 billion Macau patacas (MOP); the total gaming revenue for the whole month of October is expected to be 20 billion yuan, implying a 1% year-on-year increase. Compared to the Golden Week in May, the average room price seems to be more robust. The bank indicates that the Macau Tourism Office roughly and conservatively estimates that the daily number of visitors during the Golden Week will exceed 0.1 million people. The bank expects Macau's mid-term gaming revenue to recover to 114% to 115% of the same period in 2019.
