The Statistics and Census Service of Macao announced that the overall unemployment rate in Macao from June to August this year remained at 1.7%; the unemployment rate for local residents remained at 2.3%, both indicators the same as May to July this year, and decreased by 0.1 percentage point from the same period in 2019. In addition, the underemployment rate was 1.2%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from May to July this year.

During the period, the labor force in Macao was 0.3834 million people, with 0.3768 million people employed, an increase of 300 and 400 people respectively from May to July this year. As for local employed residents, there were 0.2859 million people, a decrease of 400 people from May to July this year. When divided by industry, the number of employees in the gambling industry increased, while the hotel and catering industry recorded a decrease.
