NTT Data Group (hereinafter referred to as NTT Data Group) has won the SustainableIT Impact Awards 2024. The SustainableIT Impact Awards, operated by SustanableIT.org note1, are awarded to leaders and organizations that have significantly contributed to the 'sustainability of IT' by reducing the environmental and societal impact of IT in the areas of environment, society, and governance. NTT Data Group was selected in the Governance category for setting a goal to achieve a substantial zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, and for promoting R&D efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through IT.

About the Award

NTT Data Group announced the 'NTT DATA NET-ZERO Vision 2040 note2' as a goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in June 2023, aiming to combat the increasingly severe climate change issues collectively as a group. By March 2024, they had obtained certification of the Net-Zero goal from SBTi note3.
While IT can significantly contribute to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions by using it effectively, there is also a need to address the impact of IT on the environment, such as the increase in electricity consumption due to the accelerating digitization. NTT Data Group is progressing various initiatives not only within the company but also towards reducing environmental impact of IT for customers and society as a whole note4. Through activities in global organizations like the Green Software Foundation note5, they grasp regulations and latest trends related to sustainable IT in the world, incorporate them into their own and societal decarbonization activities, and develop new technologies to visualize and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through IT, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They were awarded the Governance category of SustainableIT Impact Awards 2024.

SustainableIT Impact Awards & Symposium 2024

The SustainableIT Impact Awards & Symposium this year is the only event where technology and sustainability leaders from around the world gather. It will be held at the Fairmont Austin in the USA from October 15th to 16th, 2024.

Future Prospects

NTT Data Group will continue to promote R&D for reducing environmental and social impact through IT. Furthermore, it will continue its efforts to promote Sustainable IT to its customers and society as a whole through the provision of services based on R&D results.
